As you can all tell, many people on DiamondFire are leaving or taking a break. The main reason seems to be generally because of the staff team and how people react to it. The staff team appears to many as biased in their bans and warns. Some people believe promotions may be biased too but there is no conclusive evidence for this. For some reason, the staff team (specifically the mods) have this outdated idea that stuff not directly related to DF is "outside their jurisdiction". A few days ago, someone leaked my ip and password to multiple people through dms. Which because it wasn't directly on the DF Discord server, they wouldn't take action on this. The people who reported it to the staff have a high reputation and both were staff at the time. The original person deleted the messages so there is no way to report them to Discord for breaking TOS and the law. Using this loophole, people have been evading punishment for too long and this rule must be changed.

But you need to understand, how in the world are we supposed to moderate this? If you do something outside of DiamondFire there really isn't a reason for this to be moderated by DiamondFire? I think it is unreasonable for you to expect them to moderate something which is totally out of their control here. Just because you are in the DiamondFire discord doesn't mean that now all your DMS are liable to DF rules and will result in punishment based on what you put in there... it just doesn't make sense.

Dear moderators and admins (not all of you), please be consistent and use this logic everywhere and not just against those you do not like

just copypasting what i said on discord

why did you say (and how it could be fixed) and didn’t say how it could be fixed
plus this isn’t the main issue with the staff team imo, but i’m not going into that
also it being extended to dms HAS happened before
but it’s inconsistent (i.e poisontrigger, prince)
i don’t think this is happening because of bias
but instead because of miscommunication
between mods on punishments
and what is in the realm of punishing

there is definitely some bias, whether or not it is conscious is up for debate, but I honestly think its subconscious

the bias against me is definitely conscious, allegedly maxbuster has said that they have tried to find any reason to ban me in the past

People that are related to you via DF. If a lot of bots raid the server, and they spam DMs with porn links, this would be allowed by the current logic. That's the issue

While I agree that there are certainly some issues regarding punishment lengths and bias, these are issues that we can't necessarily avoid. DiamondFire being a much smaller community compared to other servers will obviously result in there being some form of bias no matter who we're punishing due to the mods having interacted with most active members. This is pretty much unavoidable and we try to counteract it as much as possible by having a team-wide discussions (a lot, trust me), although I know that this isn't a complete solution to the problem.

We're trying to eliminate this bias by other means, but these aren't very practical and don't always result in a better experience for us or the players. Regarding the whole DM issue, we concluded that very little actual harm was done and the doxxer definitely seemed apologetic for it. If the information were up to date or if it were your actual IP the outcome would likely have been different, but due to the nature of DMs we can't really moderate it, as Owen said. I have my own doubts about it but if we do act on them then we might find ourselves in a situation where the mods are overreaching their authority. At what point does something fall under our jurisdiction? These are really hard questions to answer and certainly not ones we can answer without some backlash from some section of the community.

Disliking someone and outright saying that you hate them are 2 different things.

Again, we certainly try but there are some situations that we can't ignore. We have a rule that allows for choices solely based on moderator discretion outside of the rules, but this has only been used 2-3 times in the past few years. It's not something that we take lightly and we do a lot of discussion before actually acting on anything that requires us to "make up" a rule.

Regarding this, there is a strong difference between bias and knowing someone is an active troublemaker. If you want more information on your ban and the reasons behind feel free to open a conversation with me as I'm not sure if you're comfortable talking about it here.

Bots are obviously things that we ban for, as they go against Discord ToS and it's our responsibility as moderators/administrators to deal with them and report them to Discord.

The only times we ban for stuff outside df jurisdiction is when
a) it's harmful to the community, i.e spamming links in dms etc etc
b) Extreme homophobia, racism, or otherwise just bigotry in general. Especially when it's targeted at a specific person.

Yet leaking ips is not worse? You only care bc it was about you, leaking any info is way worse. If someone wants to say anything offensive outside df, that is not your place to moderate either. You are literally the most biased person to try and defend it too…
