it's happening eventually, but 1.16 is probably going to be stayed with for a while, similar to how the 1.15 to 1.16 switch was handled

Update to 1.17.1 so that we can use 1.17 blocks.

The Devs are trying hard to update to 1.17 but, minecraft is still quite unstable for example: bone mealing a tree can crash the server or the anvil dupe glitch. Also some of the plugins that DF depends on are not updated yet. Once all these issues have been fixed and the devs are ready DF will update.

And the devs said, they first wanted to make plot worlds, so it will probably take a long time till they can update to 1.17.
