an idea that probably wont work, but it might be a possibility
dummies would be a kind of fake player, that you could summon with a command like /plot dummy [summon/remove] [number]
they would count as a player, and would be affected by everything a player would
of course a limit would be in place of like 5-7 of these, and they would help test plots without the need for actual people to test on, especially if nobody online is willing to sit for possibly hours to test things
ty for coming to my ted talk

why do you need this? if you need to test anything beyond just having players exist this will not be useful anymore. and also hard to implement by the devs. if you need to test with another player maybe just buy a second minecraft account, that works great as well and doesn't have the limitations of fake players.

tldr: its a lot of effort to implement with little benefit.

literally very easy, they just need to give them a tag to specify that they are players so select object does the funi and boom!
its not only about select object, DiamondFire uses the bukkit/spigot/paper api to do most things to players, most player actions would probably have to be rewritten (or at least refactored a lot), same with almost anything else player related, as the devs probably didn't write their own system to make anything work on any entity

People are still aloud to suggest things that may be diffuclt on the technical end. Maybe instead they run a couple small acounts that overlords could call over to their plot?

I never said they weren't allowed to suggest it?

Hot take: while this could potentially be very useful, I like that you have to test with real players and that there's no workaround. Apart from testing whether the mechanics work or not, you can ask them for feedback, and since they interact with the game in their own unique way they may find obscure bugs that you would never have discovered. It's also an excellent way of meeting new people and making friends.

💀 Disguise a mob as a player. You have overlord
but player actions don't work on mobs, the suggestion states that they will act as players, the player actions will run on them and the select players would select them :alien:

true but maybe you don't have the money for an alt or permission from your parents if you are underage

this isnt that hard to implement, just add a tag or smth to indicate they are "players" and have player actions like communications etc not broadcast to them or smth

Why would you suggest something that's stupid that's just a waste of space and not helpful

1. this is one hell of a necropost
2. it is not that simple actually.
every codeblock would need to account for this "tag" (player events, selections, and more) which would either cause quite a bit of overhead if implemented sloppily.
making this work seamlessly would need much more development time, time that the developers rather spend on other features.
oh and, these "dummies" wouldnt really be able to move around or anything... making them TERRIBLE game testers.
you'd have better luck asking someone on the node to come help test your plot.
