It isnt up to diamondfire to ban people for behaviour that occurs off of their platform, If someone is treated poorly off the platform it is up to THEM to resolve the issue. More on this at the end.

Why?

You are starting bad habits.
If someone is treated unfairly you are telling them to go and hope someone can do something. This is a dream, it isnt real. People need to take matters into their own hands and learn how to deal with their own problems. Why, well because in the real world you might not always have someone by your side to help. In terms of actual danger, if you speak out about certain topics you risk getting fired, getting beaten up and even death.

Critiques on "Why?" Section

Yes, the me too movement was extremely successful however many of the people who came forward went viral. Those who didn't receive any traffic didn't. They got fired if they were still working there. Yes, it was a risk and on the server the risk isn't there however this could lead to people making poor choices later on.

The rule will lead to complaints and lower player counts

When writing this I learnt of a large discord server raid which caused outrage amongst the community. This will not be the first time this occurs and while this rule is inplace, it will occur regularly. Yes, losing 5 or 6 people occasionally is not bad. However this will take away donation sources from the server along with notable members. Those people have friend groups on the server that will be split up and banning 5 people might eventually lead to double that number quitting.

This rule is easily abuseable

Discord is not a valid source for evidence, it is very easily faked and it is only a matter of time before people get false banned. Yes, there are ways to authenticate a discord message, however there are also equally as many ways to fake that authentication process. The same is even more true for older platforms.

How does this rule improve Diamondfire?

It doesn't. Its a known fact that behaviour off platform and behaviour on platform are wildly different. People talk differently when talking to friends and to people they know. People also behave differently when in a group. Diamondfire is group or community and people within this group are usually very timid and docile. The same people, outside the group, might be chaotic, mean or rude. Everyone has their oppinions and while it is not appropriate on a family-friendly server to bring those opinions up. Outside the server it most certainly is, and many countries allow for oppinion and protect it.

Make a poll

If you aren't sure if the rule might stir the pot or cause controversy then ask! This is a community and everyone should feel included. This is why when discussing a new rule everyone in the community should have a chance to critique a rule before it is put in place.
Take the OGL issue that occured with dungeons and dragons. That situation would've caused lawsuits if they immediately started enforcing it. While yes, it caused drama and people threatened lawsuits, those threats and drama ended when they pulled back from their revison.

How the victims can fight back:

- On discord they can block a user and report them to discord for TOS.
- On a discord server, inform the moderation team of that server.
- On minecraft they can report someone to Microsoft.
- On social media platforms they can report them and block them
- In person they can simply tell them to stop, ignore them, walk away
- In person, at school, they can tell a teacher, report them to a principle, tell parents, avoid them.

Thanks for reading, hope this helps change the server for the better.
