Hey guys! I figured that this is a really good topic to explore. Players have been wondering if the report command actually did much, so here is a thread discussing this with additionally what you should report through the command.

How it's useful
Server moderators and administrators over the network will be informed of your report, regardless of what node you are on. If no moderators are online, a vanished admin might make an appearance and take the report from there.
  • Moderators and admins are immediately informed of you report in chat
  • Moderators and admins have a chat logging system to view messages on the node
    • Someone spamming in chat? If a moderator or admin is on but not on the node for where the incident took place, we can lookup the messages and take it from there
  • Judging from how much I see admins over the network, if a moderator is not online, an admin might just be
    • However, you should still report it the appropriate places, such as the Report a player area
    • Don't depend on admins to handle it for obvious reasons, such as if we are actually offline
What you should report
  • Chat-related violations
    • This includes offensive content, spam, profanity, self promotion and media advertising, etc.
  • Cheating
    • If a player is using blacklisted modifications, such as a hacked client of some sort, you can /report this
  • You can also report any plot-related violations, like griefing
    • However, you should still put this in the appropriate area if you do not see a staff online

At the end of the day, /report is actually useful, and it seems not everyone understands that. We have taken a crazy amount of actions from those in-game reports, and to say the least- it is a very powerful command. You can still report things to whatever place you want, however, provided it's an accurate and relevant area to report it.

If a staff is not online, report the content or issue to the relevant areas.

Anyway, I hope this addressed the possible concerns of the usefulness of it. :)

i can already sense that people are going to get reported for griefing in a plot when it's not actually against the rules lol (0.2b)
I literally cannot believe my entire plot was world edited empty and my codespace was massacred after I gave every single person and their mom build dev and my social security number
