(The forum post https://mcdiamondfire.com/threads/a-note-on-popularity-distribution-between-plots.1011/#post-9243 by Sputt gave me this idea, but you'll see that this has a lot of my own opinions and more examples)
So you will notice that a few days ago, all the plots on trending were either a Skymine, a Survival, or a Clicker, why? Because of the CommandGeek wave.
The CommandGeek wave was caused by CommandGeek making a video on diamondfire, and posting it on YouTube.
Now all of those people played Game of Confusion, and then went to other, more unique games, but because they were so different, they left to go and play generic games.
The CommandGeek wave spread across all the generic games, boosting Generator survivals, then they got kinda bored, so they went to Skymine, but some stayed on the survivals.
But why?
Most unique games have cool concepts and mechanics, such as Double Jumping, Wall Jumping, or cool animations. Now once you get the hang of those, they are super fun, but the CommandGeek wave just wants quick entertainment, meaning easy to learn games, Generator survivals, king games, Generic parkours, Clickers, Skymines, and so on and so on.
TL;DR : The CommandGeek wave loves generic games so they boost generic games.
